Sandvine allows service providers to rapidly create, edit and deploy service policies across all of the Sandvine elements in their network. Regardless of the operational goal, the implementation is consistent. Whether the objective is to alleviate network congestion, create defenses against malicious network traffic or mark traffic for specialized handling by other network elements, the process is the same.

Once the service policy is created, the final step is to deploy it to the network. Deployment pushes the policies to the associated elements after which the policies begin to actively work with the traffic on your network.

Network Visualization

In addition to providing a straight-forward mechanism by which business objectives are translated into traffic management and service policies, the Service Definition Manager is also used to organize the Sandvine elements after their initial deployment. This required process defines the configuration of the physical network, the overlaying of the layer-3 network topology and address spaces, and the associated networks with physical clusters. By providing a complete visualization of all Sandvine elements deployed in the network—along with the version of the software installed on them—a great deal of time is saved and the information is simplified.
